A media wall that carries the whole living room.

The living room in Askim was a large but unfocused room with no natural centre. The client wanted to gather the furniture around a TV and fireplace wall, replace the old floor and lift the lighting in the room.

We built a plasterboard media wall with a recessed electric fireplace and lit niches, and clad the surrounding wall sections with dark timber acoustic panels. The ceiling was dropped into a light cove with an indirect LED strip and recessed spotlights, the adjoining wall got classic frame mouldings, and the whole room was laid with a new dark oak floor and new skirting.

The work was done in one continuous three-week stage, from framing and electrics to filling, painting and flooring. The result is a living room with a clear focal point and lighting that goes from working light to a soft evening mood.
